Formed in September 2011 by Gary Barrett (TAKEDOWN MMA) and Anthony Kettle (PANTHER FIGHTING ARTS ACADEMY), the league aims to showcase the talents of Cape Town Fighters. CFL will give both amateurs and professionals a chance to compete, not only with each other, but also with fighters from across the country and abroad, right here in the Mother City.

Recent years has seen a boom in the popularity of Mixed Martial Arts, thanks to the introduction of Leagues like the UFC, (Ultimate Fighting Championship) in the USA, and more recently the EFC Africa (Extreme Fighting Championship) in Africa.

Although the sport is seeing a major growth, many talented local fighters still lack the opportunity to test their abilities in the cage.
